After lots of hard work and determination, they’ve achieved one of their goals.
Sam and Crystal tested on Wylie, and Stephanie tested on Major.
Big thank you’s to Melanie Chin and Maggie Meehan-Thompson for conducting the testing.
Great work girls!!!

Video is up!

Hi everyone!
After tireless efforts by Melanie, a video of the birth, first mommy-foal moments, and the colts first steps are up on YouTube. You can either go to the YouTube website and search for Hockley Hills Baby or you can follow this link Hockley Hills Baby

Thanks Melanie, great job!!!

IT’S A BOY!!!!

We’re all very pleased to announce that Dreamer delivered a healthy colt at 9:30am on Sunday March 20th. The Sunday morning ladies class certainly got their monies worth!
Mom and foal are doing very well. Dreamer was phenomenal and allowed us all the opportunity to witness something magical that most never get to see.
Her water broke at 9:10, the foal was born at 9:30 and he was standing, with a helping hand from Don, at 10:15.
The verdict is still out on a name, so check back soon, and maybe comment with your suggestions! Oh, and here’s a picture to help you along…

Dreamer & Colt

Spring is coming!

Hello all! Hope everyone has managed to keep warm this winter! The barn has been busy and it’s been so great to see all the students out braving the cold. The good news is the horses have started to shed, so spring is right around the corner… Before you know it we will be riding outside with t-shirts on!
One of our resident Thoroughbreds, Dreamer, is pregnant and due around March 20th. It’s so fun to rest your hand against her belly and feel that foal moving around :)

Fun fact for the day: Since 1912, three disciplines of equestrian sport have been on the Olympic program: jumping, dressage and eventing. It is unlike most Olympic sports in that men and women compete on equal terms, and it involves a strong mutual relationship between two athletes of different species: horse and rider.

Check back soon for more barn updates and fun facts!

Barn Christmas Party 2010!

Christmas is right around the corner, and in the spirit of getting all of us horse nuts together to celebrate, we are having our annual Barn Christmas Party on Sunday, December 19th from 2 to 5pm.
There will be snacks, hot chocolate and coffee and of course fun on horseback!
This years activites include: Musical Stalls, Barrel Racing, Egg ‘N’ Spoon, Relay Racing, Musical Ride and Parent/Friend/Sibling Ride.
The sign up sheets are available in the barn so everyone can join in.

Also, please remember the Food and Toy Drive that we organize yearly. It is an opportunity for Hockely Hills School of Horsemanship to give something back to our community and assist local families during the holiday season. We are collecting donations of mulitple non-perishable food items, new or gently used toys, or cash in any denomination.
This season is sure to be a difficult one for many families and so it is important to remember that every little bit counts. Our goal in this endeavor is to make the holidays enjoyable for as many people as possible. Thanking you sincerely for your contributions,

The Staff at Hockely Hills School of Horsemanship
